Tony Blair, the Prime Minister of Britain has pledged to continue his campaign against the spread of the HIV/AIDS virus across the world, while on a visit to the Barking Abbey School on the World Aids Day // . Football player David James has received assurances of support from Blair in spreading AIDS awareness in Malawi.

The announcement towards funding research efforts for an anti-Aids vaccine will be made on 1 December 2005 by the Prime Minister. The wealthy nations in the world should contribute towards funding the war against Aids, according to Blair. The Global Health Fund has already agreed to contribute US$ 4 billion towards the effort.

The Manchester City goalkeeper David James has already visited Malawi with the purpose of raising the level of awareness with regard to HIV/AIDS. As much as 14% of the population of Malawi is HIV positive, and another one third of the population is suffering from an acute food shortage. James also seeks to increase the productivity of the farms in Malawi through establishing a ‘best practice’ farm.

The people of the country also need to be educated with regard to HIV, to prevent the infection from spreading further. The incidence of HIV is quite extensive in the African Continent, with countries like South Africa and Botswana reporting high figures with regard to the number of infected people.
