Beauty parlours Cause for Concern

Municipal authorities in Jaipur will check the mushrooming growth of beauty clinics in the city following// growing complaints of skin problems from customers.

"A Beauty Parlour Act will be sent to the government for approval after detailed discussions," Bharti Lal Sharma, chairperson of the rules and regulation committee of the Jaipur Municipal Corporation, told IANS.

According to him, the decision to enact the act was taken to check the rapidly increasing number of beauty parlours by untrained people, leading to numerous complaints of skin problems among customers.

According to the act, no one will be allowed to operate beauty clinics without the corporation's permission.

All new entrants would have to take clearance by submitting their credentials with a blueprint of the parlour.

As per the act, the parlours cannot be opened near educational institutions. Besides, parlour owners would also have to submit no objection certificate (NOC) of the nearby residents.

The proposed act categorizes the parlours in three categories.

The annual fee for the first category will be Rs.5,000, Rs.2,000 for the second and Rs.1,000 for the third category. Source: IANS
