Be Transformed and Don’t Pay Interes

Transform, a plastic surgery group has come out with a new scheme- Zero interest rates for improving your// looks.

The move has been criticized by authorized bodies of plastic surgery as being highly ‘irresponsible’ and akin to luring people who don’t need it, to plastic surgery.

Not so, says Transform. According to them demands for plastic surgery is on the rise and besides they argue, everyone is familiar with zero interest rate schemes for big purchases.

Its latest offer, following others such as customer deals, holiday vouchers etc. means patients can have procedures like face lifts or breast enlargements and not pay interest for an year. This offer is called Transform Options and it applies to procedures costing more than £500.

Demand for cosmetic surgery has rocketed and data from the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) reveals a 30 per cent rise in one year, in the number of procedures carried out by its members.

Yet experts fear that the public will compromise on safety and expertise when lured with such options to save money. Doctors advise patients choose a doctor who is accredited to a professional body, is on the specialist register with the General Medical Council and is registered with the Healthcare Commission.

Says Douglas McGeorge, consultant-plastic surgeon and president-of BAAPS: "When considering aesthetic surgery, price should not rule. While the fees clearly need to be considered, it should never be the primary factor in selecting a plastic surgeon.

"The surgeon's training, qualifications and experience are key to the success of cosmetic surgery."

Yet how far this will be understood is yet to be seen as one in two women, including some as young as 17, consider plastic surgery. This is according to a poll of almost 25,000 people for Radio 1's Newsbeat program.
