Dhaka - Bangladesh is on a massive vaccination drive. Nearly 22 million children under the age of five are slotted to take up the vaccination// that will protect them against one of life’s most crippling diseases- Polio.

UNICEF, the World Health Organization (WHO), Rotary International and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC, Atlanta) and the Bangladesh Government have teamed up to protect all children under the age of five from polio.

The immunization drive focuses on enabling polio vaccines to infants and children up to the age of five. Health officials will also provide vitamin A capsules to children from ages 1 to 5; children between 2 and 5 years of age will be given chewable de-worming tablets. These treatment measures will be available at 120,000 sites instituted in health facilities and centers across the nation.
