Australian Court Finds Man Guilty of Spreading HIV/AIDS

A South Australian Supreme Court jury has found a South African man guilty of spreading HIV/AIDS by having unprotected sex with three women. 34-year-old Andre Chad // Parenzee had led the women to believe that he had cancer.

One of the three women, who also happens top be a mother of two was found HIV positive, but the other two women tested negative for the virus. One of the omen alleged that Parenzee was indifferent to the fact that he could have infected the women, "He said he couldn't give a s**t," the woman said. "He didn't care if she was sick or not." Parenzee said he had not told people about his infection since he feared rejection, "I had lost friends and close friends by telling them I had HIV and I was afraid of losing her," he said of the woman he infected. "It was just the fact that I didn't know how she would react to me telling her. I thought she would turn around and leave me like everyone else. I was in love with her at the time." The sentencing in the case is scheduled at a later date and he faces 15 years in prison for all three charges.
