Asthmatics need to be on guard for Major Diseases

Australian scientists are of the opinion that older adults with asthma are highly prone to developing cancer and heart disease. //

The researchers at the University of Adelaide said adults with asthma are at a high risk than those without asthma to suffer chronic conditions like heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, osteoporosis, stroke, and cancer, The study’s lead author Dr. Robert Adams of The Queen Elizabeth Hospital at the University of Adelaide, said that, though Asthma and allergy related diseases are associated with lesser risks of cancer, recent study has suggested that older patients with Asthma are highly prone to risk of cancer.

Data was sought from 7,619 adults, from three Australian states, and 834 adults’ reported asthma findings in their medical examination. For those above 55 years, cancer was found to be a common affliction rather than in adults under 55.

The research has found a place in the February issue of the journal CHEST
