Art Attack: Doodling For a Cause!

United Kingdom :When you doodle for a cause, then it is art right from the heart! UK doodlers are being enticed to rub shoulders with the Who’s Who clan, to name a few- Rula Lenska, Ricky Gervais, and Helen Mirren, and contribute their mite for the third National Doodle Day on March 3. //

This event is a fund raiser for the Epilepsy Action and The Neurofibromatosis Association, and is growing popular each year, attracting wide participation. Scribblers, can use this forum to scribble seriously to assorted themes ranging from Puzzles and portraits, to pets and passion. Keen doodlers are required to send in their doodles to a Freepost address at just ￡1 per entry. Actor and author Maureen Lip man, the Doodle Day patron, will preside as the judge and certificates will be awarded among different age categories. Winners’ work will find a place in the hall of fame chapter on the National doodle day website.

Famous personalities from multi-faceted spheres are part of this campaign - Big Brother housemate, Rula Lenska; comedian and writer Ricky Gervais; former leader of the Liberal Democrats, Charles Kennedy and acting leader Sir Menzies Campbell; Glenda Jackson MP; singer-songwriter Katie Melua; actors Helen Mirren, Martin Kemp, Tamsin Greig, Emma Thompson, and Sir Roger Moore; TV presenters Adam Hart-Davis, Lorraine Kelly, and Fred Dinenage; and children's author Jacqueline Wilson.

EBay is doing its part by launching an online auction on National Doodle Day, open for 10 days, with entry-bids possible for the most favored celebrity doodle.

Paul Tranter, fundraising manager of Epilepsy Action, said: “Since Doodle Day started in 2004 people have doodled everything and anything from puzzles, patterns and portraits to pets, passions and places.
