Army Dental Corps to Get Multi-speciality Unit

New Delhi: The Army Dental Corps is to get a mega centre with multi-specialities, with army chief Gen. J.J. Singh performing the groundbreaking for this here Thursday.//

The facility will come up with the campus of the Army Hospital (Research & Referral) and will be known as Army Dental Centre (R&R).

The centre will provide under one roof facilities for training dental officers, specialists and paradental staff, diagnostic facilities like CT scan, digital imaging including orthopantemography, radiovisiography and cephalography.

There will be treatment planning facilities in the form of prototyping and steriolithic virtual imaging growth prediction software with virtual imaging facilities for treating cranlofacial anomalies, advanced maxillofacial surgical care to treat congenital and acquired defects, dental free ceramic restorations, full mouth restorations, facial pain management, and facilities for research in the field of stem cells.

This centre, which will handle emergencies round the clock, will have tele-dentistry capabilities to link it with other centres nationally and internationally.

Besides all this, the centre will also have postgraduate training facilities and offer certificate courses in all specialties of dental sciences and paradental certificate courses.

‘The centre will meet the long standing demand for a multi specialty centre to provide comprehensive and total health care under one roof with a dedicated team of professionals,’ an Indian Army spokesman said.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Director (Dental Services), Lt. Gen. Paramjit Singh, said the new facility was a dream and vision of his predecessors for an institution par excellence in the armed forces that was second to one in the country and comparable to the best globally, both academically and professionally.
