Apollo’s about-Turn: Cocktail Of Drugs Found In Rahul Sample

New.Delhi. Making an about-turn, Delhi's Apollo Hospital today disclosed that traces of 'cocktail of drugs' have been found in the urine sample of Rahul Mahajan//, a day after its doctors had stated that the late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan's son had tested negative for all known drugs.

'Traces of drugs have been found in the urine sample of Rahul. Since its cocktail of drugs, we cannot conclusively say which one particular drug he has taken and therefore he has tested negative for any single drug,' hospital sources told PTI adding metabolites of drugs have been found in the samples.

However, they said, 'though the test conducted on Mahajan confirmed faint traces of drugs, they are very much within the permissible limits and therefore the report for them is negative. We do not examine traces. We only examine whether a sample is negative or positive for any particular drug.'

Sources also said because of these reasons the hospital was unable to say conclusively if he had taken cocaine or any other particular drug.

The hospital Medical Director Anupam Sibal stood by the controversial report by doctors that the urine samples of Rahul, son of late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan, had tested negative for any unidentifiable drug. At the same time, when asked if Mahajan had drugs, Sibal said enigmatically, 'perhaps yes, perhaps, no'.

He maintained that it was the job of the police to investigate what led to Rahul's clinical condition.

The hospital authorities also distributed copies of the test results conducted by a private pathological lab showing the presence of drugs.
