Anxiety In Parents Over ‘ Food Allergy’ In Infans

In a study conducted by Dr Taraneh Dean of the University of Portsmouth and colleagues a large number of children are being unnecessarily restricted // in their food intakes because their parents believed that they are allergic to certain types foods. The team found that found that 54 per cent of a sample group of one-year-olds were refrained from eating certain foods because their parents were convinced that such food items initiated an allergic reaction in them

However, only two to six per cent of the infants had food hypersensitivity that was clinically confirmed, the scientists’ report in the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology. Such a finding lays emphasis on the need for a correct clinical diagnosis to prevent insufficient nutrition in children.
