Anlene brand of milk products will carry warnings about blood-clotting risks

There has been a storm brewing over a particular brand of milk, Anlene, which could cause potential harm to people who are on the warfarin drug. Fonterra, the company// that is manufacturing the brand of milk and yogurt, has said that they were well aware of the impending risks of the milk on consumers taking the blood-thinning drug. Yet Fonterra decided not to disclose the warning on the product.

Vitamin K, one of the components of Anlene, is also a blood-clotting agent. The presence of Vitamin K in the milk might clash with the effects of warfarin, enhancing the risks of stroke and other complications, according to the Food Safety Authority (FSA)

Fonterra marketing manager, Andrew Smith, has explained, when the product was launched the company had decided not to carry the label enumerating the risks, but will do so subsequent to deliberations with the FSA.
