Amphetamines Help Recovery of Stroke Patients,,

A new study from Doctors at UT Southwestern in Dallas soon report that amphetamines may speed up the recovery of speech in stroke patients who have lost the function.

This study was done on patients who had suffered from ischemic stroke, or a stroke due to loss of blood and oxygen to the brain.

Amphetamines were given to 30 stroke patients who lost their ability to speak. Dr.D.Hal Unwin told that while they don't know for sure until the results are finalized, "It looks like it works". He also says it is known from previous studies that people learn better on amphetamines and therefore may be able to re-learn faster and better on the drug.
