Allen Carr, an outspoken adversary of smoking and a former 100-cigarette-a-day user, from Britain has been diagnosed with lung cancer at the age of 73.//

Allen Carr has written a number of extremely successful self-help books to encourage smokers to give up the unhealthy habit, had earlier today confirmed his illness.

Her announced, “Since I stopped smoking more than 23 years ago I have been the happiest man in the world. I still feel the same way.” He further added that having said that he was ‘certain’ he would have been dead 20 years ago if he had not given up smoking then.

It was explained that Mr. Carr's had a particularly strong case of addiction, where in at one stage he was reportedly known to have smoked at least 100 cigarettes every day. Mr. Carr’s efforts in having successfully come out of the habit had provided many people with the type of role model they needed. It was reported that over the last two decades he had dedicated his life in helping others give up the habit.

A spokesman for Mr. Carr has said that it was not yet known whether his smoking habit, or the time spent in smoke-filled rooms during his seminars helping other smokers quit, was responsible for the development of his current illness. Carr is known to currently control 70 clinics in 30 countries around the world, which in the last year alone helped 45,000 deals with their addictions.
