Adding Credit To The Health Care Industry In India

Hurray to the achievement of an Indian who has worked all the way to get an autonomic nervous system research laboratory at the Tirunelveli government medical college hospital. This would be the country's first teaching hospital that uses technology// developed by an Indian.

Srini Nageshwar, the man behind the achievement has felt the need for low-cost equipment and speedy health diagnosis. His dream is to see every doctor in rural India enabled with an instrument that he or she can trust to tell the truth about the patient's condition. He aspires to take the technology to the rest of the world soon.

The laboratory at the 800-bed hospital was set up for Rs.500, 000. The 150 students who graduate every year from this institution will use it for their research. The laboratory is also expected to be used by medical colleges being set up in nearby Kanyakumari and Tuticorin districts, about 900 km south of Chennai.

The ansyscope, installed in the lab can read a cardiogram graph and provide a patient's health status. Another instrument that displays parameters of the autonomic nervous system made up of the sympathetic and parasympathetic systems on a mobile phone-size screen is targeted at family physicians.

Any malfunctioning of the nervous system is shown up on screen immediately and the patient’s health status can be assessed in seconds. Nervous system dysfunction is also associated with a host of diseases like diabetes, heart diseases, Parkinson's disease and sudden fainting.
