Actor Travolta Blames Psychotropic Drugs for US School Shootings

Actor John Travolta has blamed psychotropic drugs for the Virginia Tech and Columbine school shootings. The actor insisted that if one carefully looks at the whole story , it has not so much to do with gun control but drugs.

"I still think that if you analyze most of the school shootings, it is not gun control. It is [psychotropic] drugs at the bottom of it," New York Post quoted Travolta, as saying.

The Hairspray actor agrees with fellow Scientologist Tom Cruise who is one of the most outspoken members of the Church of Scientology. "I don't disagree with anything Tom says, he said.

According to Scientology there is no such thing as a chemical imbalance, and psychiatry is a form of pseudoscience. As for what is his stand on the Mission Impossible actors clash with co-host of NBC's The Today Show Matt Lauer, Travolta insisted that had he would have not put his point of view so aggressively.

How would I have presented it? Maybe differently than how he did, but it doesn't matter, he said.

In a June 2005 interview, Cruise started an argument with Lauer about psychiatry and postpartum depression and called him glib.
