AIDS Afflicted Children Abandoned

The UN Childrens' Fund (UNICEF) has revealed that as many as 1,000 children in Venezuela may be infected with the HIV virus. The families of 390 children have abandoned them, and they are forced to fend for themselves. // The country’s Health Ministry sources have revealed that there are over 60 non-governmental organizations in the nation that are contributing towards spreading awareness about the disease to ensure that it does not spread, and contain it.

Over 150 million children across the world face health problems, and most of them do not have access to medical care. There are also instances wherein the afflicted children are abandoned, mistreated and even shunned, according to UNICEF sources. The UN sources reveal that by the year 2010, over 21 million adolescents and children will become orphans due to AIDS.
