Smokers trying to quit now have one more way out of their nicotine addiction. Newtrition Remedies, a herbal medicine manufacturer, launched its "Quit Smoking Programme". Known as the "Trans-Alpha-Herbal Therapy", //the programme will focus on assisting smokers overcome physical and psychological addiction to tobacco and will begin with an attempt to de-automise the habit. This will turn smoking from a mechanical to a conscious process.
This will be followed by the finalising of a Pilot Quitting Date, a 24-hour period, when the person will keep away from smoking and resume. This is done to reduce the stress of quitting, according to therapists at Newtrition.
The Ultimate Quitting Date is then fixed, five days before which the smoker will begin sessions of hypno-therapy, which includes counselling, muscle relaxation techniques, and meditation. The therapy is meant to help the smoker cope with anxiety, social discomfort, anger, boredom, and depression. The herbal drops and non-nicotine cigarettes that will be provided also help in overcoming physical addictions, therapists say.
Although the programme ends in 15 days, the person, now referred to as an ex-smoker, will be invited for sessions of hypnotherapy on the 15th and 30th day to help maintain this status.
The sessions of hypnotherapy will not only help the subject quit smoking completely, but also help him become a more pleasing and positive person. The money that a smoker spends on cigarettes over a period of three months is estimated to be Rs. 4,000. This includes the cost of the imported non-nicotine cigarettes, and the herbal drops used as a method support during the period of therapy.
