A death in Indonesia due to suspected bird flu case

The avian virus doesn’t seem to rest in the Asian peninsula. A new case of a 15-year-old boy who tested positive for bird flu has died at Hasan Sadikin Hospital in the Indonesian town of Bandung.//

In case the local results are verified by the WHO -accredited lab in Hong Kong it will become the 15th human fatality from bird flu in Indonesia.

The dead boy was a resident of Padalarang in Bandung regency, some150 km south of Jakarta. He was admitted to the hospital on Monday with a high fever and in severe respiratory distress- all bird flu symptoms. The causality occurred Wednesday morning.

The boy was the second suspected bird flu patient to have died at the hospital in a month. In mid-January, a three-year-old boy died of bird flu.

As revealed by Bandung regency's health office, there were some 20 chickens who died near the boy's house shortly before he became ill

So the logical conclusion is that the boy contracted the illness from them.
