A case for euthanasia

My daughter 'Terri Schiavo, is in the building behind me, starving to death, " Mark Schindler said. " We laugh // together, we cry together, we smile together, and we talk together. She is my life..................” said the mother of Terri in the court.

Members of the US Congress said on Saturday that they have agreed on a compromise, bi partisan bill aimed at saving the life of Terri Schiavo, the brain damaged woman whose feeding tube was discontinued on friday following a order by U.S. District Judge James Whittemore was denied the request by Schiavo's parents, who sought to restore the feeding and hydration to the 41 year old woman. The judge said that the parents had not established a "substantial likelihood of success" on the merits of their argument.

It has been a long legal battle, since when Schiavo collapsed in her home on 25th February 1990, suffering from heart failure that lead to her brain damage.

Her parents are fighting against her husband over years over the fate of their daughter. Her husband and guardian Michael Schiavo, has been fighting for years to remove her feeding tube, contending that his wife would not want to be kept artificially.

Referring to Schiavo’s parents Republican Rep. David Dreir of California said " It seems to me that we are at a point where we have no choice other than to ensure these parents, who are desperately seeking an opportunity to care for their daughter, have a chance to be heard in the federal court,”

"In instances like this one, where there is serious questions and substantial doubts, our society, our laws and our courts should have a presumption in favor of life" said President George W. Bush.
