A boon for smokers to quit

In a study conducted recently, researchers have found out that the wonder drug Bromocriptine, initially used in the treatment of tumours and Parkinson's disease can go a long way in helping smokers quit the dreadful habit.//The drug produces a similar kind of pleasure which is offered by nicotine in the cigar.

It has also been found out that stimulation or blockage of a chemical called DOPAMINE can have a significant alteration in a smoker's behaviour.Blocking dopamine is found to induce more smoking as the chemical plays with an individual's emotions and feelings of pleasure.Infact, a group of smokers who tried the new drug smoked less than when they took a dopamine blocker. This effect of the drug is believed to be due to nausea induced by it.However the efficacy and safety of the drug has to be analysed before the drug can be put to use.
