A Nurse’s Job Is Nerve Breakin

A nurse’s job has always been regarded as one of the toughest and most strenuous jobs. A Canadian study has confirmed this belief and also adds that the workload// and strain makes them sick.

The study was done between October 2005 and January 2006 on nearly 19,000 nurses, which included registered nurses, licensed practical nurses and registered psychiatric nurses.

The overall observation was that nurses face a variety of physical and emotional challenges in a demanding and hectic workplace and it’s certainly affecting their well-being.

The statistics shows that about 10 % were injured while on duty in the previous year, stuck by needles or sometimes even physically assaulted by patients.

The survey associates work stress and lack of respect to health problems among nurses.

About 12 % of nurses said they were dissatisfied with their job as compared with 8% of all employed women and men. 60 % said their jobs were physically demanding, which is well above the 38 % of women and 46 % of men in the generally employed population.

Another important finding of the study was the nurses felt they did not get much support from co-workers.
