A Killer Clot, Coagulates Karen’s Lif

Karen Johnstone, 28, was suffering from Deep Vein Thrombosis since four years. In March, this year, Karen brushed her anxieties away after doctors told her that she no longer suffered Deep Vein Thrombosis//.

Last weekend, Karen died after a blood clot that had formed in her legs moved up to the lungs and obstructed the blood flow to her lungs.

Kathy and Norman, Karen’s parents, absolutely devastated are investigating the possibility of medial negligence at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary - where Karen had undergone the treatment - that did not perceive the latent danger to Kathy’s life.

Kathy said: 'I'm not having this swept under the carpet. How the hell did my daughter die in May if she was supposed to be clear of DVT in March? This has totally wrecked our lives. If the clots came back after Karen was given the all-clear, that's just fate. My concern would be if they were there all the time and the medical staff missed them.'

A spokeswoman for the hospital said: 'We are completely satisfied with the treatment and care given to Karen since 2001. We are not aware of any clinical reason to have changed the treatment'
