$ 1.7 Million NYSTAR Award for Binghamton University to Flex Electronics Research Muscle.

Integrated Electronics Engineering Center (IEEC) of the Binghamton University has received the coveted award of $1.7 million from the New York State Office of Science, Technology and Academic Research (NYSTAR) to assist // hastening of the Microelectronics Research in the roll-to-roll format.

NYSTAR’S CAT Development program is responsible for funding such initiatives, recognized by the New York State, especially those that involve innovation of cutting edge technology. The IEEC at Binghamton University is avidly involved with leading research and innovations in Electronics Packaging, conveying its findings to the New York State and National Packaging Industries, from time to time.. The IEEC has always maintained a track record of sustaining leading organizations as its partners, providing continued support for all endeavors in high end technology. This Funding by NYSTAR will help the IEEC to develop a significant area in systems integration and packaging, which is crucial even from an economic angle, being the centre for jobs and economic growth.

Binghamton University can boast of being the forerunners in the field of flexible electronics through its Center for Advanced Microelectronics Manufacturing (CAMM), founded in 2005. The partnership of the IEEC and CAMM will be a force to reckon with, elevating the University to the next stage of technology development. This will bring about the realization of the R2R prototype manufacturing line that will support the design of flexible electronic manufacturing.

The M.D., Executive director of NYSTAR, Russell W. Bessette has expressed, that through this partnership, the Binghamton University has received an impetus to invigorate its research and Development abilities, which will result in more employment opportunities in the New York State. The Binghamton University President and The Senator Thomas W. Libous have both expressed the promise this partnership holds in bringing leading technologies
