,,Plastic to cause breast cancer

Plastic ingredients can enter the body from the food being heated in a plastic// container. This ingredient can cause changes in the mammary gland development of the fetus in womb enough to cause breast cancer to the baby in her adult life.

The research, which is published in the current edition of the journal Endocrinology, blames the plastic ingredient bisphenol A for causing the damage.

Bisphenol-A (BPA) is a chemical founding the clear plastics that are used as food grade materials for making air tight containers, drinking water bottles, even feeding bottles for infants. This is a contaminant that can cause health problems on long-term exposure.

Drawing parallels from an animal study, scientists of the study said that exposure to bisphenol-A in the womb can be detrimental to the growth of a healthy fetus. Such exposure had been seen to make the breast tissues of the female mice more sensitive to the effects of the hormone estrogen. These mice, which were exposed to BPA from the womb, had developed more tissues in their breasts. It is a noted fact that higher density breast tissue is a risk factor for breast cancer.

The study once again stresses the relevant need for disassociating or minimizing the use of plastic in our lives.
