Acubalance Wellness Clinic, the first acupuncture clinic in Western Canada to exclusively focus on reproductive health, now has the highest concentration of American Board of Oriental Reproductive Medicine-accredited reproductive acupuncturists of any clinic in the world.
Vancouver, Canada (PRWEB) July 8, 2009 -- Acubalance Wellness Centre (http://www.acubalance.ca) is pleased to announce that two more of their Doctors of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Erin Flynn, R.TCM.P, R.Ac, and Trevor Erikson, R.TCM.P, R.Ac, have successfully passed their speciality exams and are now Fellows of the American Board of Oriental Reproductive Medicine (ABORM http://www.aborm.org). This accreditation signifies that a TCM practitioner has demonstrated knowledge and experience in the field of Chinese reproductive medicine.
Acupuncture has increasingly been in the media spotlight as a growing number of medical studies indicate that acupuncture treatment may improve a woman's chance of getting pregnant with in vitro fertilization (IVF) by up to 65%. Until recently, however, the public has had no reliable way of identifying TCM practitioners who have specialized training in fertility care.
"The purpose of the ABORM accreditation is to help couples make an informed choice," says Dr. Lorne Brown, founder and clinical director of Acubalance. "In British Columbia there is no infertility specialist designation for Doctors of TCM, so anyone can say they treat fertility. This is where the ABORM is invaluable in letting the public and physicians know which acupuncturists have taken additional training in fertility treatment."
Acubalance was the first acupuncture clinic in Western Canada to exclusively focus on reproductive health and is proud to have the highest concentration of Fellows of the ABORM practitioners of any clinic in the world. The professional reputation that the clinic has developed has led to a unique partnership with Genesis Fertility Centre, one of Canada's largest and most respected fertility clinics. "Acubalance and Genesis are working together to develop a new model of integrative care which includes open communication between clinics, on-site acupuncture at the Genesis clinic for before and after IVF transfer, and collaborative public talks on integrated fertility treatment," explains Brown.
"Our partnership with Acubalance would not be possible if they did not have the knowledge, training, and experience in fertility care," says Dr Jason Hitkari, director and reproductive endocrinologist at Genesis. "We have complete confidence that we can discuss any issues or concerns we have about shared care treatment. Patients love the open communication we have with Acubalance, and the fact that they can have an acupuncture treatment and a soothing spa-like experience right in our clinic before and after their transfer."
Acubalance Wellness Centre is entirely dedicated to treating infertility and men's and women's reproductive health. It provides a personalized preconception care program as well as support for Assisted Reproductive Therapies like IVF. All Acubalance practitioners are formally educated and licensed with the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine of British Columbia (CTCMA) and have post graduate training in TCM reproductive health and knowledge of Western fertility treatments.
