University HealthSystem Consortium Recognized as a Company That Cares for Sixth Yea...( OAK BROOK Ill. July 21 /-...),Health

OAK BROOK, Ill., July 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Since 2003, the University HealthSystem Consortium (UHC) has earned a place on the Companies That Care Honor Roll, making this the sixth consecutive year. The Honor Roll publicly recognizes and celebrates all organizations that value employees and are committed to community service.

All Honor Roll recipients must exhibit 10 characteristics, which include:

• Sustaining a work environment founded on dignity and respect for all employees
• Developing great leaders, at all levels, who excel at managing people as well as results
• Encouraging individual pursuit of work-life balance
  

In addition to meeting these standards, UHC organized successful community service initiatives in 2008:

• Cleaning the York Woods Forest Preserve in Oak Brook, Ill
• Collecting school supplies as part of the Kits for Kidz program for children attending Chicago public schools
• Purchasing books for students at Madison Elementary School in Lombard, Ill
• Conducting a toy drive for Hope Children's Hospital and Shriners Hospital for Children
• Hosting a dinner for homeless individuals to support Public Action to Deliver Shelter at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Villa Park, Ill
