Sunquest Completes System-Wide Implementation at Cleveland Clinic Hospital Laboratories

Sunquest has successfully completed system-wide implementation of a software standardization program at seven hospital laboratories of the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio.

(PRWEB) February 19, 2010 -- Sunquest, a leading provider of healthcare diagnostic information technology and outreach solutions, has successfully completed system-wide implementation of a software standardization program at seven hospital laboratories of the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. The primary focus of the initiative was to standardize their laboratory operations to a single software solution.

“Cleveland Clinic contracted with Sunquest to bring the laboratories of seven of our hospitals onto their laboratory diagnostic IT solution,” said Tom Shirk, Director of the Center for Pathology Informatics at Cleveland Clinic. “Three of these hospital labs were already using Sunquest, and four of them were on another system. We wanted to consolidate all of these sites into a single, integrated deployment of Sunquest.

“All seven hospital laboratories are now fully orchestrated with Laboratory, Blood Bank, Microbiology, and SMART service lines from Sunquest, and are running very smoothly. This makes a total of nine hospitals (including central campus) now operating effectively on our Sunquest system, with two additional Cleveland Clinic hospitals in the queue for the next few years. We are also in the process of working with the company to further upgrade systems and interfaces, as well as to implement robotic specimen processes at certain labs.”
