WASHINGTON, July 13 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Speaker Nancy Pelosi released the following statement on President Obama's appointment of Dr. Regina Benjamin as Surgeon General of the United States.

"Dr. Regina Benjamin will come to her new position as Surgeon General as a leading spokesperson on public health issues and a deep commitment to creating a healthier America.
