Newly Patented Sterilization/Disinfection Method Reduces Risk of Microorganism Growth on Hard Surfaces

Bauer Energy Design® Inc. ("Bauer" or the "Company") is pleased to announce today that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has granted US Patent No. 7,547,413 to Bauer. This U.S. patent includes broad claims to novel methods and systems and their use in disinfecting or sterilizing a surface, an object or an environment with a special treated water steam.

Waterloo, Ontario, Canada (PRWEB) July 22, 2009 -- Bauer Energy Design® Inc. ("Bauer" or the "Company") is pleased to announce today that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has granted US Patent No. 7,547,413 to Bauer. This U.S. patent includes broad claims to novel methods and systems and their use in disinfecting or sterilizing a surface, an object or an environment with a special treated water steam.

The issuance of this patent provides broad patent protection for our water and steam vapour processing system and creates commercial opportunities for Bauer and his licensees in a broad commercial space. "Our system has applications in industry, including health care, livestock farms, meat processors, food manufacturers, food service facilities, schools and universities, as well as in domestic households," said Walter J. Bauer, President of the Company. Bauer's patent portfolio now includes one issued patent and two patent applications pending in multiple jurisdictions throughout the world.

Surface-mediated infectious disease transmission is a major concern in a variety of settings, including schools, hospitals, and food-processing facilities. Chemical disinfectants frequently used to reduce contamination pose significant risks to humans and the environment. Some microorganisms have natural resistance to chemical disinfectants which operate over a narrow range of pathogens.
