New Insurance Membership Program Protects Washington State Families Against High Cost of Emergency Medical Transports

To protect Washington State residents against the high, unexpected costs of emergency medical transport, Apollo MT, a brokerage firm that protects nearly 10,000 Alaskans each year with its fully insured membership program, has recently expanded its coverage area to the state of Washington.

(PRWEB) February 24, 2010 -- Apollo MT, a brokerage firm which protects nearly 10,000 Alaskans each year against the high costs of emergency medical transport with its fully insured membership program, recently expanded its coverage area to the state of Washington.

The membership insurance program, which is available to all Washington State residents, provides complete coverage in case of an emergency medical transport by ground or air -- an expense that most insurance companies don't cover in full.

"An average ambulance ride costs $1,100 and a single air transport ranges from $8,000-$20,000, and most of these unexpected costs are billed to the patient -- regardless of whether he or she has insurance coverage," notes Dr. Eric Stirling, a founder and co-owner of Apollo MT, who launched the membership brokerage after watching patients rack up enormous medical bills from emergency transport.

"Most people assume that medical transport is only for car accidents and other trauma related injuries. But the fact is that many transports -- particularly in rural areas -- happen for common illnesses, injuries or pregnancies requiring neurologists, urologists or other medical professionals not available on a local level," adds Stirling. "In Washington State alone, there are more than 300,000 ground ambulance transports each year -- amounting to one transport for every 21 people living in the state."
