Leading Health Plan Utilizes MEDai Solution to Reduce Hospital Admissions and Target Interventions
Date:6/25/2009

ORLANDO, Fla., June 25 /PRNewswire/ -- MEDai, Inc., a leading provider of predictive analytic solutions headquartered in Orlando, FL, announced today that Geisinger Health Plan, one of its premier clients, has significantly reduced hospital admissions and found savings opportunities through its Medical Home initiative which leverages MEDai's Risk Navigator Clinical(R) predictive modeling solution. Geisinger dropped hospital admissions by approximately 15%, positively influencing medical expense for Medicare populations.

Utilizing MEDai's award-winning predictive analytics, the health plan is able to arm nurse case managers with patient risk panels that clearly identify those patients upon whom interventions would have the greatest impact. "With risk scores, we identify patients by site, practice and provider, and our nurses can then see them in person and by telephone, and get them into a more regular routine of care," said Janet Tomcavage, RN, MSN, Vice President of Health Services at Geisinger. "Risk Navigator Clinical drives cooperation between plan, provider and case manager," she added.

With Risk Navigator Clinical, MEDai is achieving its goal of helping insurers and healthcare managers to improve clinical outcomes, operational results and financial returns through advanced knowledge. The system bridges the gap between the random and highly individualized nature of member populations and the insight needed for better efficiency, favorable revenues and improved health protection. The solution identifies characteristics and patterns in groups, drilling down to individuals. Geisinger's experience has been captured in a case study currently available through MEDai's website (www.medai.com). The study takes an in-depth look at how this leading health plan established its Medical Home program and leveraged MEDai's technology and business intelligen
