i-Sight Offers Training Webinar on Eliminating Bias in Investigations
Date:7/17/2013

Ottawa, Ontario (PRWEB) July 17, 2013

An investigator’s job is to come to an unbiased conclusion about something that has occurred, but if the investigator is impacted by unconscious biases, staying impartial can be challenging. To help those who conduct investigations to recognize the potential for bias and work towards eliminating it, i-Sight Software is offering a free webinar on the topic, presented by expert attorney and author Amy Oppenheimer.

“Unconscious biases play a significant role on how we organize and interpret the world,” says Oppenheimer. “Thus, they impact the work of investigators by influencing what information we seek and how we view that information. Good investigative skills and practices can help to counteract these biases. The more we understand our own biases, and the vulnerability we all have to be influenced by cognitive biases, the more we can do to prevent these biases from impacting our decision making,” she says.

“We are so pleased to have Amy Oppenheimer on-board for this webinar on such an important topic,” says Joe Gerard, VP Marketing and Sales at i-Sight Software. “She brings more than 30 years of experience to the subject and is a well-known expert in the area of workplace investigations. I’m sure our audience will appreciate the valuable insight she can provide on how to become more self-aware, when it comes to our own biases and how to make sure they don’t influence our investigative decisions.”

In the webinar, Oppenheimer will teach attendees:

  •     To identify the different forms of unconscious bias
  •     The impact that bias can have on an investigation
  •     How to recognize the signs of unconscious bias
  •     What the Implicit Association Test (IAT) can teach us about unconscious bias
  •     What
