High Activity, Plant Based Diamine Oxidase Enzyme Introduced by Bio-Research Products
Date:6/15/2009

NORTH LIBERTY, Iowa, June 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Bio-Research Products announced today the first commercial, plant-based diamine oxidase (DAO). Dr. Bryce Cunningham, President and Chief Technology Officer of Bio-Research, reports that this new diamine oxidase is orders of magnitude more active than DAO derived from pig kidney tissue. The enzyme is available as a lyophilized powder. Price will be $200 per kilounit.

Diamine Oxidase is useful for test assays to detect spoilage by the presence of histamines in wine and seafoods. DAO is especially active towards diaminopentane and diaminohexane. With better availability and with higher activity, Bio-Research's diamine oxidase can also play a role in diagnostic assays for histamine allergies.

Bio-Research Products is a producer of high purity enzymes used in medical diagnostic tests and in other demanding applications. It is one of a small number of suppliers worldwide for chloroperoxidase and the only supplier of high purity soybean peroxidase. Other Bio-Research products include lectins and the protease inhibitor AEBSF. BRP is also a contract manufacturer of enzymes for other companies. Visit our web site for a complete listing of enzyme products: www.bio-researchprod.com.
