Health Care Service Corporation Names Carolyn H. Clift as Senior Vice President and First Chief Diversity Officer

New Position Created to Support Growing Customer Diversity and Related Strategic Opportunities

CHICAGO, June 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Health Care Service Corporation (HCSC) has named Carolyn H. Clift as senior vice president and the company's first chief diversity officer. Clift will be responsible for leading the company's diversity-related strategic operations and solutions. The country's largest customer-owned health insurance company and fourth largest health insurer overall, HCSC has been named as one of the "Top 50 Companies for Diversity" for the last five years in a row. HCSC operates the Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans in Illinois, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.

"HCSC has more than 12 million members across the country and Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans operating in four very different states," said Clift. "We have a tremendous opportunity to better serve our diverse customers as well as tailor products and services for new customers and emerging markets," said Clift.

Prior to assuming her new position, Clift served as vice president, general counsel and assistant secretary for HCSC. She has more than 20 years of internal and external counsel experience. Clift received her Master of Law in health care law from DePaul University. Her professional memberships include the Chicago Bar Association, Cook County Bar Association and National Bar Association. Her community involvement includes serving on the boards of directors for the Illinois Equal Justice Foundation, Chicago State University Foundation, and Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, and supporting the Chicago Anti-Hunger Federation.
