- Portable USB Device Will Expedite Emergency Responders' Treatment of Trauma Victims -

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., April 7 /PRNewswire/ -- eMed-ID, the world's first medical identification franchise providing consumers with a personal USB device that will expedite emergency responders treatment of trauma victims or those unable to communicate, is rapidly expanding its national footprint with today's announcement that the Tampa Bay market is now open for franchise sales. Qualified franchisees can purchase the home-based franchise for a total investment of less than $10,000.

eMed-ID offers immediate access to confidential medical information that helps consumers avoid life-threatening delays in treatment, medical or surgical complications, allergic reactions and medication errors. The portable USB device, utilizing eMed-ID's proprietary software, comes in a variety of options, including wristband, credit card style and keychain.

To date, eMed-ID has already signed five franchisees, in the Tampa Bay area, as well as the first area developer, Scott Flesch. Area Director opportunities are available starting at $29,950 for a minimum protected territory of 200,000 people. The Tampa Bay area currently has over 300 franchise and 12 additional area developer opportunities available in the market.

After more than fifteen years in the technology sale's industry, where he developed sales & marketing channels for Silicon Valley startup companies, Scott Flesch decided to leave the corporate world for the world of franchising. Flesch lives in the Tampa Bay area and is a former owner of an Ident-A-Kid franchise, the world's largest child safety franchise. As the Area Director for Northern Pinellas County, Scott sold his first franchise in 30 days.

"While the economy continues to falter, it's important to understand that opportunities do exist for those entrepreneurs like Scott interested in starting his own low cost, home-based business," said Lonnie Helgerson, President & COO, eMed-ID Franchising, LLC. "eMed-ID welcomes Scott as the first area director in the Tampa Bay market. We are extremely excited to have someone with his credentials building the eMed-ID brand right here in our own backyard."

In 2006, 2.5 million people were injured in traffic accidents, which represented the leading cause of unintentional injury and admittance to an emergency room in an unconscious state, according to the Bureau of Transportation. Also, as reported in the Journal of AHIMA, consider the average time it takes to track down a traffic accident victim's family members and obtain their medical history with notification typically ranging from more than six hours to two days.

Consumers who purchase the tax-deductible eMed-ID package for $69.95 receive the eMed-ID USB wristband, four eMed-ID caregiver cards, two eMed-ID In Case of Emergency (I.C.E.) refrigerator cards and a bound report. In addition, eMed-ID is the only medical identification product that also provides customers with an optional legally-binding healthcare surrogate, HIPAA release and living will. eMed-ID also partners with the "Silver Alert" program, modeled after "Amber Alert," to help protect an increasing number of citizens with cognitive impairments.

National company growth goals for 2009 include recruiting a minimum of 20 Area Representatives, representing more than 400 franchises throughout the country. Three-year term financing is being offered for approximately $38 a week. In addition, the franchise provides Veterans with a $2,450 discount and a three percent reduction on financing interest.

eMed-ID is guided by a seasoned management team with in-depth experience in both franchising and technology. Led by Lonnie Helgerson, the recently launched franchise benefits from management's extensive background in building Ident-A-Kid(R) into the world's largest child safety franchise.
