As Environmental Regulations Gather on the Horizon, Crothall Services Group Launches Green Initiatives to Assist Hospitals
Date:10/2/2009

With both national and international bodies focusing on hospitals to control energy usage, Crothall is contending with these potential changes by launching two initiatives this fall. First, they are conducting a full survey of the energy and utility uses of their entire customer base. Coinciding with the analysis, they are introducing their GreenChoices program to raise awareness about available sustainable options.

(PRWEB) October 2, 2009 -- Change is coming to hospitals. Legislation in Congress and recent reports from both the U.S. Department of Energy and the World Health Organization specifically target healthcare facilities as wasteful energy consumers. Crothall Services Group is aggressively responding to potential governmental regulations by launching two initiatives this autumn: first, conducting a full survey of the utility uses of all maintenance customers and, second, introducing their GreenChoices program to raise awareness about current green options.

"Whatever form new energy laws ultimately take, it seems inevitable that there will be some form of environmental regulations we will need to address," explained Bobby Kutteh, president and CEO of Crothall.

The most ambitious plan from Crothall is initiating a complete survey of their Operations & Maintenance customers. Many hospitals already participate in local green initiatives to reduce consumption, but, as noted in the cover story of its August edition of Celebrations magazine, the time for voluntary energy reduction measures may be drawing to a close.

Hospitals are second highest of all commercial buildings in energy consumption, second only to the food service industry. By analyzing every aspect of utility use - both cost in dollars and consumption in BTUs per square foot - Crothall will define baselines for each individual facility and compile data to benchmark their performance.
