Allied World's David Bell to Present as Keynote Speaker at 2009 Entrepreneurial Insurance Symposium

PEMBROKE, Bermuda, Sept. 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Allied World Assurance Company Holdings, Ltd (NYSE: AWH) announced today that Allied World's Chief Operating Officer, David Bell, will be a Keynote Speaker at the 2009 Entrepreneurial Insurance Symposium at the Cityplace Conference Center in Dallas, Texas on September 15, 2009.

The Entrepreneurial Insurance Symposium is organized by MarketScout, and the theme of this year's conference is "The Road to Innovation, Opportunities and Growth." Speakers will focus on creating opportunities within the insurance industry in a soft market and how the economic climate is affecting the industry overall. Eight Presidents or CEOs of major insurance companies, four Fortune 500 Risk Managers, and other leaders of innovation in insurance will discuss the future of the industry.

Mr. Bell's keynote address will focus specifically on insurance and innovation. Other keynote speakers include J. Hyatt Brown, CEO of Brown & Brown, Bill Hartnett of Microsoft, Dr. Robert Hartwig of the Insurance Information Institute, Dr. William T. Hold of The National Alliance for Insurance Education and Research and Charles Williamson of Chartis' Private Client Group.

Mr. Bell began working with Allied World in 2002, when he helped to start the company's professional lines division. Previously, he worked with Chubb Insurance, where he managed the professional lines operations in Florida in addition to overseeing Chubb's statewide corporate lobbying efforts.

Mr. Bell serves as President of PLUS (Professional Liability Underwriting Society), the largest insurance industry association focused on education. He serves on the board of the Mansfield Center, which promotes a better understanding of Asia and of U.S. relations with Asia. He has pr
