Hearing Center Honors Wishes and Local Sports Hero
The grand opening festivities start at 11:00 a.m. EST, Thursday, March 6 at the Zounds Hearing Center in Moorestown Mall, in the Boscov's wing.
Zounds' Moorestown location will honor two Twilight Wish requests from local seniors who cannot afford hearing aids. A World War II veteran and a lifelong sufferer of hearing loss will both receive hearing aids to help them experience their lives to the fullest.
In the spirit of wishes and indomitable spirit, Vince Papale, former Philadelphia Eagles' wide receiver, local resident and inspiration for the movie, "Invincible," will be available to sign autographs, take photos and meet fans and customers.
Growing Hearing Loss -- Burlington County
According to a MarkeTrak survey by the Better Hearing Institute, hearing loss affects about 10 percent of the U.S. population, while three in 10 people above age 60 are affected by hearing loss. In Burlington County, this means more than 42,000 people are likely affected by hearing loss based on recent census data. However, only 20 percent of those that need hearing aids actually wear them.
