Zix Corporation Celebrates National Patient Safety Awareness Week with Continued Success in e-Prescribing

This has greatly reduced delays incurred when pharmacists have to call (and wait for callbacks), in search of missing information on incomplete prescriptions."

The National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS), the National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) and SureScripts, created the Safe-Rx Award to raise awareness of e-prescribing as a more secure, accurate and informed means of prescribing patients medication.

For the second year in a row, Massachusetts takes top honors in the nation for electronic prescribing as awarded by SureScripts ranking of the number of prescriptions routed electronically in 2007 as a percentage of the total number of prescriptions eligible for electronic routing. The eRx Collaborative in Massachusetts, ZixCorp's longest running e-prescribing program, recently announced that in 2007, 104,000 electronic prescriptions were changed due to drug safety alerts. This represents 2.1 percent of total electronic prescriptions. The highest number of electronic prescriptions that were changed or cancelled in a single month was 9,960.(1)
