Zane Benefits Publishes New Information on Utah Health Insurance Exchange Rates
Date:8/26/2013

Park City, UT (PRWEB) August 26, 2013

Today, Zane Benefits, the number one online small business health benefits solution, published new information on Utah Health Insurance Exchange rates.

According to Zane Benefits’ website, on August 22, the Utah Insurance Department released proposed rates for individual and small group health insurance plans that will be offered through the Utah Health Insurance Exchange starting October 1, 2013. Plan coverage will begin January 1, 2014.

Utah is incorporating both a federal and state run exchange - it is defaulting to the federally-run exchange model for their individual health insurance exchange, but implementing their own state-based exchange for small businesses, called Avenue H.

Utah will have six insurance carriers offering insurance plans through their exchange. These insurers are:

  • Altius Health Plans, Inc.
  • Arches Mutual Insurance Company
  • BridgeSpan Health Company
  • Humana Medical Plan of Utah, Inc.
  • Molina Healthcare of Utah Inc.
  • SelectHealth Inc.

A total of 99 plans have been proposed by these carriers and further recommended to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) by the Utah Insurance Department. HHS will review and finalize the plans.

Sample premium rates for individuals and families by county have been made available online. These are premium rates before any individual health insurance tax subsidies are applied. The tax subsidies are available for consumers with income four times the federal poverty level.

Note: The family rates apply to a family of 2 parents age 40, with 3+ children under 21.

Utah's SHOP exchange, Avenue H, has three carriers that have filed to offer small group health insurance plans on Avenue H. These providers are:

  • Arches Mutual Insurance Company
  • SelectHealth Inc.
  • United HealthCare of Utah

These three carriers have submitted 70 plans that have been approved by the Utah Department of Insurance, to be reviewed and finalized by HHS.

Sample rates for individuals and families getting insurance through the SHOP marketplace have been made available.
