Yumi Media Supports NYC Elementary School’s All-Vegetarian Menu
Date:5/3/2013

Bohemia, NY (PRWEB) May 03, 2013

On May 3, 2013, Yumi Media commented on a recent article that discussed a school in New York City that adopted a new all-vegetarian menu for its students. P.S. 244 in Flushing Queens is the first public school in New York City to have an all-vegetarian menu. The school officials believe that it may be the first school in the nation to do so.

Dennis Walcott, school chancellor for P.S. 244, says “he’s proud of the ‘trailblazing’ school.” The school began serving a vegetarian lunch three times a week and then increased it to four times a week. The first meal that the children enjoyed consisted of black beans and cheddar quesadillas served with salsa and roasted potatoes.

P.S. 244 opened its doors in 2008 and its student body contains over 400 students in pre-kindergarten through third grade.

Yumi Media congratulates the school for making this exciting new move. “We love to see schools making healthy decisions for their children,” says Justin Maas, a representative from Yumi Media. “It’s better to introduce kids to healthier choices for eating at an early age. It broadens their horizons, and gives them options that they might not be receiving at home. As they grow up, they might realize more and more options to their diet and develop a healthier lifestyle because of it. Schools should possibly consider including meatless meals developed from companies like Quorn. Meat substitutes like Quorn can replicate the taste of meat while still conforming
