Youth Social Engagement Platform Rocket21 Partners with One Million Bones to Send High School Youth Activist Team to Washington, D.C.
Date:6/7/2013

San Francisco, CA and New Orleans, LA (PRWEB) June 07, 2013

Youth social platform Rocket21 is sending a team of 8 New Orleans high school students on an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington D.C. to participate in the final installment of One Million Bones on the National Mall June 8th through 10th.

Rocket21 recognized the inspiring work performed by New Orleans high school students, many at-risk and from underperforming schools, as they participated in a challenge put forth by One Million Bones, an international social arts initiative raising awareness about genocide through art, education and engagement. Over the last three years, OMB has put forth a challenge to create 1,000,000 hand-made bones which will be laid on the National Mall on June 8th, 2013 as a visual petition representing our common humanity and honoring those lost to genocide and crimes against humanity.

The participating students were selected by One Million Bones organizers, based on the students’ work to contribute a large portion of the 70,000 bones sent to the National Mall from their community. During the creation process, students brought forth their own personal stories about violence in their community, recognizing links to atrocities taking place around the world.

Rocket21, a leading social engagement platform safely connecting youth with world class organizations and visionary professionals promoting global perspectives, is a partner of OMB and supporter of the local of New Orleans chapter.

“Rocket21 is proud to support these inspiring students in this life-changing experience,” noted Lisa Litsey, Rocket21 Sr. Director, Outreach. “Facilitating real-world opportunities for youth to learn and make a real difference in the world is in perfect alignment with the goals of our platform.’

Rocket21, One Million Bones, and the New Orleans community are proud to send the following students to Washington D.C. to carry forward a message of tolerance, peace, and respect for all humanity.

Bianchi Hughes from International High School
