YogaFit and The American Heart Association Collaborate to Raise Heart and Stroke Health Awareness in Southern California
Date:9/25/2013

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) September 25, 2013

YogaFit proudly announces our collaboration with the American Heart Association as the official yoga provider for their 2013 LA Area Heart & Stroke Walks. YogaFit will be providing warm up and cool down routines to runners and walkers, as well as spreading awareness of the importance of fitness in maintaining heart health.

The American Heart Association’s Heart & Stroke Walk is coming to seven communities in Los Angeles County, with walks scheduled in Antelope Valley, Pomona, Pasadena, Downtown Los Angeles, Santa Clarita, Santa Monica and Long Beach this fall. YogaFit has proudly joined forces with the AHA to support their Heart and Stroke walks in the Los Angeles area. YogaFit has formed a team, and welcomes those who are interested in supporting this great cause, to join our team.

There are several dates that individuals can participate in, or fundraise for. Everyone is invited to form a team with family, friends or coworkers, or join the YogaFit team. Visit: http://heartwalkla.kintera.org/teamyogafit to join our team, or create your own. You can join YogaFit on these dates:
October 12th - Marie Kerr Park, Palmdale, October 13th - Pomona Fairplex
October 19th - Pasadena Rose Bowl, October 23rd - Grand Park, Downtown LA
October 26th - Valencia Town Center, November 2nd - Santa Monica Pier
November 10th - Rainbow Lagoon, Long Beach

The Heart & Stroke Walk, is a family event featuring a non-competitive 5-kilometer walk/run (except for Downtown LA’s one-mile route) and one-mile Survivor Path. Other highlights include a Health and Wellness Expo, Survivor Lounge, Kids Zone featuring games and educational information promoting heart health, VIP Tent for sponsors and top fundraisers and live entertainment. There is no fee to participate in the event. Individuals who raise $100 or more will receive an official Heart & Stroke Walk t-shirt.

Heart disease, stroke and other cardiovascular diseases claim more than 831,000 lives every year. In Los Angeles, more than 16,000 men, women and children die of these diseases each year. While heart disease and stroke mortality dropped significantly between 1997 and 2007, heart disease deaths remain 12 percent higher in LA County than the U.S. as a whole. The AHA’s mission is building healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke, and its goal by 2020 is to improve the cardiovascular health of all Americans by 20 percent while reducing deaths from cardiovascular diseases and stroke by 20 percent.

YogaFit Training Systems whole-heartedly supports the AHA's goal to decrease cardiovascular disease and to raise awareness about Heart health and Stroke.
