YOGA 4 THE CURE Raises $1,000 for Breast Cancer

Sara Holliday of Fit by Sara and Susan G. Komen for the Cure, San Diego Unite To Help Women Get Fit and Raise Funds

SAN DIEGO, April 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Word is spreading about YOGA 4 THE CURE. In the course of just two classes, 50 women have gathered together to stretch, deep breathe and meditate. Along with getting fit and feeling great, this grassroots movement has raised $1,000 in donations for breast cancer. Susan G. Komen for the Cure, San Diego and Sara Holliday of Fit by Sara have joined together in a movement to help women get fit and raise money with the hope of finding a cure for breast cancer.

Sara Holliday, president of Fit by Sara, fitness expert and yoga instructor says, "It's been so exciting to see women join together for a common cause - to get fit and contribute to finding a cure for breast cancer. During the course of two classes I've seen women deeply connect to the cause and feel a sense of peace and accomplishment. Many who came to the first class came to the second class as well."

Sandy Rabourne, a breast cancer survivor and director of development and outreach for Susan G. Komen for the Cure, San Diego states, "We know YOGA 4 THE CURE is going to grow. As the word spreads we expect to have hundreds of women coming together and raise thousands of dollars towards breast cancer awareness, treatment and services here in San Diego."

The yoga workshops are held the last Saturday of every month from 8:30 a.m. to 10: 30 a.m. on the lawn next to the Visitor's Center at Mission Bay park located at 2688 East Mission Bay Drive, San Diego, CA 92109. The next workshop is scheduled for April 25, 2009. The suggested donation is $20, and all proceeds go directly to the San Diego Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
