MADISON, N.J., Sept. 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Wyeth (NYSE: WYE) announced today that it has been named one of Working Mother magazine's 100 Best Companies for Working Mothers in 2008. It is the 11th consecutive year Wyeth has received this honor.
Wyeth's selection was based on an evaluation of its workforce, benefits, compensation, child care programs, flexible work arrangements, leave policies and more. For this year's 100 Best, particular weight was given to flexibility and family-friendly policies that cover adoptive parents, fathers and grandparents as well as working mothers.
"We are proud to receive this recognition from Working Mother for the 11th consecutive year," says Denise Peppard, Senior Vice President, Human Resources, Wyeth. "We recognize that our employees are challenged to manage the demands of work along with full and busy lives. Wyeth provides an array of family-friendly programs designed to promote physical and emotional well-being, create a sense of community, and help employees manage work and family responsibilities. For example, the Company recently introduced Live Well, a health improvement program for employees and their families. This program supports health education and prevention, provides a number of tools and resources to help employees manage work/life issues, and offers care support for chronic or complex medical conditions.
To help fulfill personal responsibilities while at the same time achieving business objectives, Wyeth's Flexible Work Arrangements policy provides the opportunity for employees to work from home, use a compressed or part-time schedule, or participate in job shares.
"After implementing compressed work schedules for a number of employees on my team, we reduced sick days and overtime while improving our lab performance metrics," says Ellen Dukette, Director of Quality Operations at Wyeth Consumer Healthcare's facility in Richmond, Va. "I've seen a higher level of commitment and satisfaction as a result."
