Women's International Pharmacy Offers Free Educational Information About Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy
Date:4/29/2009

MADISON, Wis., April 29 /PRNewswire/ -- An ongoing debate regarding Hormone Replacement Therapy has been raging for the past several years. This debate and the results of a controversial study released in 2002 have left millions of women confused, fearful, and uncertain about how to deal with unpleasant menopausal hormone symptoms caused by ever shifting hormonal balances. Recent national broadcast programs and figures such as Oprah Winfrey, Suzanne Somers and Dr. Phil have brought back the spotlight on this critical women's issue. Winfrey and Dr. Phil with the help of women's health expert Dr. Christiane Northrup have raised public awareness for an attractive option available for the relief of menopausal symptoms.

Discussed at length on Winfrey's television program, in her monthly magazine, and on her web site and more recently on Dr. Phil's program is the bioidentical hormone replacement therapy option. Unlike conventional synthetic hormones, bioidentical hormones match the structure and function of hormones produced in the body. In contrast, synthetic hormones are not structured the same and can produce different effects. Another significant difference is that bioidentical hormones can be compounded to a specific strength and dosage form; and flexibility to combine hormones into one formulation such as a capsule, cream, etc. Synthetics are a mass produced, one size fits all approach that may not meet the specific dosage needs of the individuals.
