Women’s Health and Surgery Center OB/GYN Adopts Families in Need for Holiday Season

During this holiday season as businesses and individuals are planning holiday parties and deciding what to get each other for the season, the staff and physicians at the Women’s Health and Surgery Center OB/GYN decided that they would do something different this year.

“Through programs at local church and community centers two families in need were identified and we felt it would be a good opportunity to help those within the community we serve during this holiday season,” said Dr. Lia Shorter Medical Director at Women’s Health and Surgery Center. It was this same time last year that the practice decided to make a donation to a local charity in the name of their employees. But this year the staff and doctors wanted to make a direct impact on those who were in most need.

“Every year we start planning the office holiday luncheon and have fun gift giving games. The with the economy the way it was we knew there would be families out there that needed some direct help,” said Dr. Shelly James physician at Women’s Health and Surgery Center OBGYN. “It’s great to have this level of impact on families and we only wish we could help more,” added Dr. James.

“There are a lot of local organizations that help those in need but we felt that going to local churches would be the best starting point as they would be acutely aware of families that needed help the most,” said Dr. Kurian Thott CEO/Physician at Women’s Health and Surgery Center. “We can
