With Homeowners Concerned About Formaldehyde, Cali Bamboo Puts Safety Above Bottom Line

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) March 05, 2015

This week, 60 Minutes reported dangerous levels of formaldehyde in low-cost laminate flooring products, initiating widespread concern from homeowners. Cali Bamboo, the leading manufacturer of eco-friendly building materials made primarily from bamboo, stands behind their commitment to customer safety by testing all their flooring products for volatile organic compounds (VOCs) through the leading emissions detection laboratory Benchmark International (BMH). Results from formaldehyde emissions testing show that several of their floors register concentration levels as “Not Detectable”, or formaldehyde-free.

“With the recent concerns about formaldehyde emissions coming from low-cost laminate flooring, we are happy to offer a safe, ultra-low VOC alternative that also happens to be eco-friendly,” said Jeff Goldberg, founder and CEO of Cali Bamboo. “It is rewarding to know that our customers can have the peace of mind that only comes with a quality product free from harmful additives.”

High levels of formaldehyde, a naturally occurring chemical, are known to cause serious health problems including cancer. In order to register as “Not Detectable”, BMH requires formaldehyde concentration levels to be less than 0.000 parts per million (PPM). While many of Cali Bamboo’s floors registered as “Not Detectable”, even the floors with detectable levels measured 50 times lower than the strictest California Air Resources Board (CARB) Phase 2 standards (0.05 PPM). In fact, test results show that all Cali Bamboo flooring formaldehyde levels were at least half the amount found in typical metropolitan air (0.02 PPM).

“We’re a small company competing with some big corporate players, but we’re committed to offering high-quality products made with superior adhesives and manufacturing techniques,” said Goldberg. “We use these products in our own homes where our children grow up, so safety and quality has always been our number one priority.”

For years, Cali Bamboo has maintained transparency by publishing all third party testing for formaldehyde on their website. To view all the results, go to
