Why Are Most Health & Wellness Products Doomed to Failure?

Obesity Rates Rise - Webinar to Crack the Code

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla., Sept. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- New insights from a comprehensive study of over 1,000 U.S. adults reveal that Americans largely ignore healthful food choices, as well as diet and exercise guidelines. In "Wellness in America: Lifestyles Spell Disaster" the critical role of stress in the failure to achieve personal health and wellness goals is explored and documented.

"Solutions lie in understanding the cultural and behavioral limits of Americans," says Senior Partner Chris McCarthy of Landis Strategy & Innovation, author of the consumer study. "One of the key findings in 'Wellness in America: Lifestyles Spell Disaster' is the relationship of stress in goal achievement or failure, especially where health and wellbeing is concerned. That stress, inherent in American lifestyles, leads to a resulting need for comfort, which in turn is the willpower buster."

The solutions and recommendations in "Wellness in America" are particularly relevant, given the findings of the newly released "F as in Fat: How Obesity Policies Are Failing in America," which found that during the past year no states have reduced their obesity rates. The Trust for America's Health sponsored study showed that residents of an additional 31 states have actually increased their girth.

McCarthy will disclose other findings from the Landis survey and relate key insights into the deep and complex emotional motivations that actually drive health and wellness behavior during a complimentary webinar, September 13, 2007 1:00 PM ET. He will also suggest ways that marketers can turn these insights into compelling business platforms. Registration for "Health & Wellness Innovation -- Making the Connection between Emotional and Physical Wellbeing" is available at .
