What to Look for When Selecting an Electronic Health Record for Your Community Oncology Practice - Free Educational Webinar
Date:2/12/2010

THE WOODLANDS, Texas, Feb. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Community oncologists, practice administrators (PAs), executive directors (EDs), and clinical staff interested in learning the most important aspects to be aware of when selecting the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system most appropriate for your particular practice are invited to attend a free webinar at 2 p.m. EST (11 a.m. PST) on Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010. To register, visit www.opspharmacist.com/opes. Registration is free, but space is limited.

Medicare Healthcare Information Technology (HIT) incentives offered through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA ) begin in 2011. Many community oncology practices are starting the selection process for an EHR and finding themselves overwhelmed with the process. This free educational webinar, hosted by US Oncology, Inc., the nation's premier community oncology services company supporting a network of more than 1,300 physicians from across the nation and working with the medical industry to advance the science of cancer care, will help physicians, administrators and EDs identify which system is most appropriate for their particular practice.

Cindy Chavez, vice president of iKnowMed™, an oncology-specific electronic health record (EHR) system designed by oncologists for oncologists, and former practice administrator with more than 20 years of experience in oncology, will offer guidance in the planning process that will help practices set priorities to determine the best solution between a specialty-specific EHR and a general EHR. The webinar will also offer tips on evaluating the EHR vendor as a long-term partner and will conclude with a question and answer session to address practice-specific questions.

US Oncology offers free webinars through its Oncology Practice Education Series designed to provide community-based oncology practices with information and education to help them successfully negotiate today's cancer care environment. The company is well aligned with more than 1,300 oncologists from across the nation and is active in all relevant health care initiatives and in pursuing legislation that supports the delivery of quality cancer care in the community.
